STATE OF THE NATION: US ELECTION SYSTEMS & SECURITY

Please join us for Part II of our virtual program:

"Election Systems II: Ranked Choice Voting!"

Saturday, Oct. 29th at 10:00am -11:30am

What can the League of Women Voters—and you—do to improve our elections?

Our keynote speaker, Celia Nolan, is a national organizer with Rank the Vote (RTV), which is a 501(c)3 organization with a vision that the national adoption of ranked choice voting could create a political and social culture with elections based on a competition of the best ideas rather than scorched-earth politics, and a government that is truly accountable to “we the people. ” She will provide an historical overview of Ranked Choice Voting, where it is being implemented and how it impacts elections and voters.

Steve Chessin, member of the Los Altos/Mountain View LWV, the Santa Clara County Citizens' Advisory Commission on Elections (CACE) and President of Californians for Electoral Reform, will then lead program participants through an actual simulation of Ranked Choice Voting. Come and learn more about this alternate voting system and help to spread information and knowledge about this process.

If you missed the Oct. 8th event with keynote speaker Kim Alexander, President of the California Voter Foundation (CVF), who explored what some major election problems are and offered possible solutions, you can view it here

In response to growing threats and harassment of election officials, Kim and the California Voter Foundation (CVF) are leading a nationwide, nonpartisan network of leaders across multiple sectors working to support and protect election officials and election administration. Current priorities include improving election workers’ safety and security, curtailing election mis- and disinformation, increasing funding and support for election administration. Take a look here.
