Ready, Set, VOTE! 

Election Day is officially November 5, but ballots arrive The week of October 8.  All registered voters in California have been sent a vote-by-mail ballot. 
This message has

  • Information to help you ensure your vote gets counted  
  • Links to resources to help you make your own voting choices

However you choose to vote . . .
    Be sure you vote on or before November 5, 2024 !


Three Ways to Vote! 

You have several safe, secure, and reliable options for returning your ballot:

  • US Mail – No stamp is required to return your ballot through the US Postal Service. Make sure your ballot is postmarked by 8:00pm on November 5, 2024.

  • Drop Off box – Starting October 7, secure drop boxes are available throughout the county for you to return your ballot. Make sure your ballot is deposited by 8:00 p.m. on November 5, 2024. 

  • In-person/Vote Center– You can return your ballot to a vote center, or your county elections office by 8:00 p.m. on November 5, 2024.  Most vote centers open for 4 days, (Nov 2-5), and some are open for 10 days (Oct 26 – Nov 5).  Voting centers also offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance.


Don’t Get Rejected!

Take these steps to ensure a smooth voting experience:

  • Use a blue or black ink pen, and fill in the oval completely.

  • Sign your ballot envelope!! It’s required so that your signature can be compared with the one on file to verify your identity. Use your driver’s license signature as guide.

  • Track your ballot. Sign up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov to receive updates on your ballot via text (SMS), email, or voice call.


Non-Partisan Election Resources

Finally, here are a variety of resources you can use to research the candidates, state propositions and local ballot measures to help you make your voting decisions:

 

  • LWVCS Website: at www.LWVCS.org Go to the menu item: <Elections & Voting> for lots of information about this election, such as:
    • Candidate Forums: Go to www.lwvcs.org/election-forums for links to registration and after-event recordings of our candidate forums.  
    • Pro & Con Presentations:  Members of LWVCS will explain the 10 state propositions and the local measures in a Zoom presentation on Wednesday, Oct 16 at 7pm. It will be recorded and then available online.  To register or get a link to the recording go to www.lwvcs.org/election-forums
      For each proposition ,we will provide:
      • background information,
      • an explanation of what the proposition will do,
      • what it will cost and
      • information about the supporters and opponents of each measure. 

  • LWV VOTE411.orgVOTE411.org is a national voter information resource of the League of Women Voters that replaces VotersEdge.com, which was specific to California.  You can type in your address and find out about the specific candidates and propositions that are on your ballot.

  • LWV California Easy Voter Guide:cavotes.org/easy-voter-guide  The easy voter guide published by the League of Women Voters California Education Fund and is available in 5 languages.  It contains general election information and brief explanations of the 10 state propositions.  
     
  • State and County Voter Information GuidesThe CA Secretary of State and the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters published voter information guides about the state and more local races.  These guides are available on-line in multiple languages and in large-print and audio formats. 
  • Secretary of State Quick Guide to Propositions: quickguidetoprops.sos.ca.gov/propositions/2024-11-05  This resource is published by the CA Secretary of State and contains a brief analysis of the propositions, including proposition campaign finance information
  • California Legislative Analyst’s Office Ballot Analysis: lao.ca.gov/BallotAnalysis/Propositions 
    The Legislative Analyst’s Office is a nonpartisan government agency that provides fiscal and policy advice to the California Legislature.  They also publish analysis of the state ballot measures.
