There is a partly-computerized system called Remote Accessible Vote by Mail System (RAVBM).
- BUT It used to be available only to voters with disabilities or military or overseas voters.
- BUT: as of 2022, under California law all registered voters can use the RAVBM system.
So YES, you CAN use RAVBM on your computer or tablet at home, to fill out the ballot
- and, IF you have features such as touchscreen or screen reader, you can use them to help you.
- BUT: (here's the partly-computerized part)
- It's an application you download to a computer or tablet
- You CAN'T return your completed ballot via the Internet ("To preserve your privacy and security")
- When you're finished voting on the computer, as an RAVBM user you must:
- print your completed ballot,
- place the printed ballot in the original Vote by Mail envelope that was mailed to you with your vote-by-mail ballot,
- sign the envelope, and
- return it to the Registrar of Voters in time for your ballot to be counted
Check it out here: RAVBM.
If you are registered to vote in Santa Clara County, you can request a RAVBM Ballot starting 29 days before the election.
