LWVCS Member First-Time Login Help Page

Greetings! Welcome to our website!

There's a lot you can do as a member when you log in, such as:

⦁ See members-only information in the Calendar
⦁ Sign up to volunteer for League activities
⦁ Access our Member Directory to contact other members
⦁ Update information in your member record and change your password
⦁ Renew your membership online
⦁ Easily make a donation online
⦁ See what's going on at our committees, and sign up to participate
⦁ Review and update your interests, so you can be contacted when something comes up in your area

So let's walk through the Login process.

  • You received an email that included your system-assigned:

     User name: xxxxxx

     Temporary Password: yyyyyyy

If you have that, you’re ready to go.

If you can’t find it, or you've forgotten your password, (or even your User Name)
don’t worry.
Just keep following these instructions, we'll tell you what to do!

LWVCS Member Login Guide

If you're reading this guide online, you've already come to our website home page.
You've probably received a welcoming email asking you to come here.
This quick online guide will walk you through the first login, and is here to remind you if you forget.

NOTE:  If you'd like to follow along with this guide while doing your first login
  1. At the top right of this screen,right-click (or off-click) on the Member Login button
  2. Click on Open in a New Tab (or whatever equivalent your browser provides)
  3. Now you can go back and forth between the tab with the login guide and
the tab where you're actually doing the login

To log in:
In the upper right corner of the home screen, click on the “Member Login” button

{The button is pointed to here with a GOLD ARROW

Welcome to the Login page.

Enter the username and password you received in your welcome email.
Note: The red dots to the right of the User Name and Password boxes mean that these are required fields.  This is standard on our new website.

If you want the system to automatically log you in on this device from now on, click the box next to the words “Remember me on this computer.”  {marked here with a GOLD ARROW}
👉🏻 Be sure you only allow this on your own computer, tablet, or phone, never on a public or shared device!

Next, click the blue  Login  button and you’re in!

Couldn't find your Password?

No worries:

~ Click on the
 blue button that says:
     "   Forgot My Username/Password  ."
 ~ A pop-up box will appear.

(If it does not appear, you need to disable your pop-up blocker)

~ Fill in your email address and
     first name.

~ If they match what's in our League files, a new Username & Password will be emailed to you.
(note: If they do NOT match - send an email to webmaster@lwvcs.org with your name and email. We'll get back to you)

~ Come back here when you’ve got them.

Since this is your first time logging in, you’ll  next see the User Name and Password page.

Here you’re asked to enter User Name and Password again. Both fields are required.  Why?

  • User Name: You can either enter the User Name you were assigned by the system, to confirm you'll use that,  or you can change your User Name to something you'd prefer
👉🏻 Many people use their email id as their User Name
  •  Password: You must change your password, to make it something more personal than what was assigned by the system
👉🏻 The yellow box at the bottom has some hints for crafting a good password

As on the previous page, there’s a box {marked here by a GOLD ARROW}  that you can click if f you want the system to automatically log you in on this device from now on,

Don’t forget to:

  1. Make a note of your new password (and User Name if you changed that)
  2. Click Save {marked here by a RED ARROW.

Now comes the Privacy Options page.

If you want to read the complete policy details, there’s a hyperlink to click in the last line of the first paragraph. If you don’t want to read it now, every page of our site has a link, “Privacy Policy,” at the bottom of the page.

The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) is addressed near the end of that detailed policy explanation. As a California organization, we have also added an assurance in our page footer, stating that we neither buy nor sell personal information to third parties. As a member, you need only log in to have access to view and update your personal information.

Your Privacy Choices (the red dot just means you must pick 1 of the 3 options)

The first choice, “I Agree,” will assure that, as a member of our League,  you will be sure to receive updates and newsletters from LWVCS., including the monthly VOTER and EBlast.

When you’ve clicked your choice, click the Return button at the bottom of the page to continue.

This will take you to the Member Profile page.

Here you can view and modify information about yourself that's in the Member data base, and set controls about what can be displayed in our Members' Online Directory.

Right now, let's just look at one item. You get there by clicking on the
Member Directory card, pointed to here by the   RED ARROW.

screenshot_member_profile_with_arrow.png

This will take you to the Member Directory  settings page.

Here you can set how much information other members of our local League can see when they are logged in to the website Member Directory and Committee lists. This information is not visible to the general public.

The first setting, next to the word Visibility (here circled in red) is a drop-down box (click the v arrow where the RED ARROW here points).

You can select any one of these visibility options for your entry in the Member Directory. This does not affect your data in the League database, only what can be seen by other logged-in members online.

The default initial setting for data visibility  is:

  • Show: Name, City, State, Email
  • Do NOT Show: Street Address, Phone, Work Info

If you select a different data Visibility setting, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click  the SAVE button!

There's a lot more you can do with your member profile. Feel free to explore.
👉🏼 Note the little question mark symbol in the upper-right corner. Click it to get lots of guidance on things you can do!

You can easily come back here anytime, as you’ll see just below.

We're Done with your first Login!
You can always come back here if you need help with Logging In, or you can go to Forgotten Password Help.

Once you're logged in, you can quickly get back to your personal
Member Profile page from anywhere on the site:

  1. Check that you’re logged in:
    • If you are logged in, you'll see your name in red in the upper right corner of every screen
    • If you are not logged in, you'll see the Member Login button in the upper right corner
      • If the button is there, click it,  log in, your name will appear

  2. Mouse over your name in the corner, and the User Panel box will appear (where the GOLD ARROW points in the illustration on this page)

  3. Click on the word “Profile” and it will take you to the Member Profile page

We'll be building more LWVCS Member Website Guides in the future.  Any logged-in LWVCS member will be able to see them listed under "Members Only" in the Menu.
