LWV US Declares United States in a “Constitutional Crisis,” and Announces 'Unite and Rise 8.5' - a New Initiative to Mobilize Voters

Good News! The proposed California voter suppression bill, AB25, has been defeated in the Assembly's Election Committee. Many thanks to all who wrote or called their Assembly members to let them know that this was not acceptable.
Now - on to the U.S. Congress and the SAVE Act!

The 'SAVE Act' affects every American citizen. It sets up barriers to voting by requiring every single American to provide very specific documents, in person, not just when registering to vote, but also anytime they update their voter records, or if their files do not have the right proof of citizenship.

Now is the time to redouble our efforts in challenging this legislation that suppresses the vote, as the SAVE Act has passed in the U.S. House — and is now heading to the Senate for a vote before being signed into a nation-wide law that will be in effect in every state!

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services tells League it now has no room for voter registration at new citizen swearing-in.
