Thank You To Our Spectacular Voter Services Team.
- Please join us in thanking our Voter Services team for all their work on the Forums.
- Pam has taken our Voter Services work to the next level in organization and helped improved our reach into the community.
- Dan & Nina were brand new to the team and took on research and support of our candidate forums as well as the Pro/Con Forums.
- Marieann, Marilyn and Allison helped with the promotion through our website, Eblasts, outreach to other nonprofits and news organizations.
- Debbie handled the Zoom and social media.
- Bruce and Dan acted as timekeepers and provided logistics support.
- Polly, Tracey, and Elaine served as Moderators.
- Nina also organized about 20 volunteers to help pick up ballots from nearby ballot boxes and securely deliver them to the Registrar of Voters Office. This will be happening from Nov 2 to Nov 5.
- We also appreciate the other organizations that supported us through advertising our forums or providing space for us to host a Forum.
Election Night Observation
One of the most inspiring activities is to observe election night at our Registrar of Voters Office. Elaine will be there. If you’d like to go with her or meet her there, please let her know in advance at president@lwvcs.org
We leave you with these words of wisdom as we wrap up this election:
“Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and Senators and Congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
In League,
Elaine & Tracey
Your Co-Presidents

Help Keep Polling Places Safe and Welcoming! |
California has an established multi-organizational rapid response election protection network. The LWVC is a part of the statewide rapid response network, and local Leagues also have a role. Individuals can also play a part.
If Leagues observe or become aware of any issues with local elections, either in early voting or on Election Day, they should call the LWVC election hotline: 888-870-VOTE.
- On Election Day, League staff will be covering the phones from the time polling places open until they close.
- During early voting, the phone will have coverage during normal business hours.
Once a situation is reported to the LWVC via the election hotline, they will then activate the rapid response network to assess and address the situation. LWVDV has designated a contact person if LWVC determines that there is a need for local Leagues to act on a problem.
Anyone seeing a problem can call or text the national nonpartisan hotlines provided by 866-Our-Vote:

Have YOU Renewed Yet?
We truly appreciate your past support and hope that you will continue to support our work through your membership.
Membership renewal is uniquely time sensitive this year. Our membership system, including our renewal process, will be changing close to the end of this year. Change can be difficult and we are asking everyone to renew as soon as possible to avoid your annual renewal being caught up in this system change.
Many of our members whose memberships expired in August or will be expiring in the next few months have renewed—Thank you!! If you have not yet renewed and your membership is expiring between now and January, PLEASE renew as soon as possible. Log into your account at www.lwvcs.org to renew.
You can renew early and your membership will still have the same renewal date. For example, if your membership expires on 11/30/24, and you renew on 10/2/24, your membership will be good through 11/30/25.
Questions? Please contact Nina Wong-Dobkin at Membership@lwvcs.org.

Election Connection: Episode 10 - The Future Is Now: Empowering Tomorrow's Voters with Dr. Dewan interviewing with the Santa Clara County ROV
Students can achieve the CA State Seal of Civic Engagement – with 40,000 voting eligible students, pre-registration and registration are a gold constituency to mine!
Today, 19 states and the District of Columbia allow young people to preregister to vote starting at age 16. These states account for more than 50% of teens in the US. Even in the most age-restrictive states, virtually everyone is old enough to register when they are still in high school. The US Department of Education recently published guidance specifically calling on high schools to incorporate nonpartisan voter registration into their programs.
California and New York both have positive permissive laws to allow young people to register, but neither state has effective implementation. As of August 2024, only 20% of 16- and 17-year-olds are preregistered in New York State, and as of July, under 15% were preregistered in California. Special offers to help are here.
How about your children and grandchildren – are they pre- or registered to vote? Check out this website for special support!
